Professional Biography

Dr. Keiko Miyata, BVMS, CVA

Hello my name is Keiko Miyata. I obtained my veterinary degree from University of Glasgow, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and complemented my studies with externships in surgery, clinical nutrition and integrative medicine. Before graduating, I completed my acupuncture course with Chi University to become a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.

After graduation, I worked at a corporate hospital in Costa Mesa. I was the lead surgery doctor and mentored newly graduated doctors prior to leaving. After working at a private hospital thereafter, I decided to work as a full time relief veterinarian. Until recently, I was working at several locations including private and corporate hospitals.

My veterinary interests include internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, holistic medicine and nutrition. I’ve performed an extensive number of common surgeries such as spays, neuters, mass removals, and teeth extractions, and have also performed more complex surgeries such as cystotomies, liver biopsies and foreign body removal.

Personal Biography

I was born in Japan, and grew up in Orange County, California. During my entrepreneurial adventure to open a Bed & Breakfast in Mexico, I had a vision of becoming a veterinarian and soon returned home to pursue that dream. While finishing my undergraduate and pre-veterinary studies at UC Irvine, I worked as a veterinary assistant for five years. After graduating from veterinary school, I met my husband Dan, and we have two rescue dogs named Millie and Cora, and two kitties named Fig and Klaus. During our spare time, we enjoy surfing and camping together.

Assistant Bio

Hi my name is Stephani Ramsey, I was born and raised in Southern California, and have a BA in Psychology and Social Behavior from UC Irvine. My veterinary career began during the pandemic with Banfield Pet Hospital as a receptionist and eventually trained to be a veterinary assistant. Working at Banfield, I met Dr Miyata and discovered a shared passion for quality care while bringing pets the most comfort possible.

In my free time I enjoy pursuing artistic avenues and spending time outdoors, whether it be a casual hike or more intensive like rock climbing or horseback riding. I also currently share my home with 2 snakes, Bean and Chow Mein, and my cat, Blackie.

Inspiration

Sunny Side Veterinary was inspired by my beloved Golden Retriever named Sunny. The intensive care she needed in her last days sparked a vision to provide compassionate and quality care in the comfort of the home of our furry companions.
